About

The Casements Camera Club (a not-for-profit organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS code), founded February 4, 1976, is a group of photography enthusiasts from the greater Halifax area. Our mission is to provide a means by which individuals with a common interest in photography can meet on a regular basis to share information and ideas, learn new skills, enjoy planned programs and activities, and provide venues to exhibit work.

The Casements Camera Club meets on the fourth Thursday of every month (except November and December) in the Casements (the former winter home of John D. Rockefeller), 25 Riverside Dr., Ormond Beach, FL. Most meetings include a speaker with professional knowledge of photography, whether in discussing his or her own work or critiquing members’ work. Members can highlight their own involvement in photography and display their work in a member presentation or in field trip picture slideshows. In every meeting there is time for refreshments and general fellowship. Field trips are organized monthly and in December there is a Holiday Party instead of a regular meeting.

The Casements Camera Club is a member of the Florida Camera Club Council, which allows Casements Camera Club members to become an affiliated member of the Florida Camera Club Council and participate in conventions, competitions and have access to educational programs.

A newsletter is sent every month featuring member work, upcoming meeting and exhibition information, tips and member equipment for sale.

The Casements Camera Club hosts three annual judged exhibitions:

  • Ebony & Ivory Show, a black & white show displayed in the Gallery of the Casements in March;
  • Annual Spring Exhibit, any size, color, and form of photography displayed in the Gallery of the Casements in June; and
  • Annual Show, only color photography (no black & white or monochromatic) displayed in the Gallery of the Casements in September.

Additionally, the club seeks other venues for exhibition of members’ work.
