December 14, 2023

The year is almost to an end… And what a year it has been. We had 4 exhibitions and the Urban Spaces exhibition in the Southeast Museum of Photography was a great success.

We sponsored a Teen contest in the Casements by providing the ribbons and judging. We had 12 challenges, 20 Feedback Friday Zoom meetings, 4 board meetings, 1 assignment (use a Magnifying Glass) and 13 field trips. And we decorated a Christmas tree that can be admired in the Ballroom of the Casements.

There are always many people to thank – the board members (Donna Armstrong, Sylvia Rohmer, Richard Rosenthal and Will Abair), the honorary board members (Jeanne Figurelli – hospitality chair, Judy Speno – challenge coordinator, Kathleen Pruett – website administrator, Michele Oliver – publicity chair and Neala McCarten – newsletter editor) and we thank Will Abair for taking members on a wonderful boat trip on Lake Disston, Bob Schroeder for being our CPA, Gloria Lotzer for lending us her Christmas Tree and helping decorate it, Bill Speno for always being available to hang our exhibitions and David Pruett for videoing interviews with judges. And if I forgot someone, sorry, sorry, sorry my mind sometimes turns into Swiss Cheese.

For 2024 we have big plans; we have a Workshop on Compositing with Gary Shaver on Wednesday, January 17 and for the third time we have an exhibition in the Southeast Museum of Photography. This time the theme is Still Life. The tentative opening date of that exhibit is February 20, 2024.

And then I have to talk about the Holiday Party, that took place yesterday! What a wonderful occasion. The weather was iffy, therefor the party took place in the Gallery and the food was displayed in the kitchen and what a spread it was. Thanks to every member who brought this lovely buffet! Food and Fellowship what a combination.

We ended the year with a bang!

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season and see you all next year!

Till next time,

Ans
