October 21, 2021

We are heading in the right direction: next week we have the first in-person meeting since February 2020! It’s a transition, because we are doing it outside on the North Lawn of the Casements in the afternoon. The November meeting and the Holiday Party will also be outside in the afternoon (see the calendar) and we will reconsider meeting inside at the beginning of January.

January brings the exhibition in the Southeast Museum of Photography. That is so exciting. We are preparing for this exhibit and have done an “In a Park” challenge and the October field trip was to Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. More about this exhibit in a later blog.

Talking about challenges: the intention of the challenge is to get the members outside and shooting. Well; for the October challenge I took 331 images to be culled down to 10. That is a lot of images. I also changed the aspect ratio on the camera to 1:1, because the size of the images for the museum is 10″x10″. I learned from this to look differently at compositions.

That is the good thing about a camera club: inspiring the members to go further and step outside their comfort zone and do (and shoot) something different.

Hopefully other members feel this way too.

Well, if not, they can always vote me out in the October meeting next week,

till next time,

Ans
